Coups de Vents develops wind music-based research, creation and training projects.
Since 2004, Coups de Vents has been proposing actions designed to extensively develop and rehabilitate wind orchestras, in conjunction with various local and international partners. Coups de Vents has established itself as one of the leading international events for wind music by creating international composition and band competitions, and by organising ambitious projects to support amateur practices through training activities for musicians and conductors, exchanges, meetings and creations.
Coups de Vents has established a growing number of international partnerships, including with the Russian Composers’ Union, the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the American Band College and the Jeju International Festival in Korea.
The Coups de Vents Wind Orchestra was created in 2009 on the initiative of the French Department of Pas-de-Calais. This versatile wind orchestra offers highly diversified novel and innovative programmes in order to make contemporary musical aesthetics, jazz and world music more accessible to a wider audience.
